About Us
The Salmon family origin story is too long of a tale to recount here. That narrative is riddled with adventure and intrigue, but it is the sort of thing you will have to draw out of them in person. Suffice it to say that Josh and Caroline met at New Saint Andrews College in the golden Palouse of North Idaho where they studied the classical liberal arts. Josh enrolled at NSA with a vision of attending medical school and elevating healthcare sectors in the developing regions of Africa. Caroline enrolled at NSA in an effort to meet Josh. They married in 2025 and are expecting their first child this fall.Josh has worked in both East and West Africa on “first-world” hospital ships and in underfunded public hospitals. In the US, he has been involved in various clinics between Idaho and Texas. These experiences revealed that—though Western medicine is riddled with significant moral decay—the issues plaguing medicine in subsaharan Africa are more acute.Much labor will be required to build a healthier Africa—particularly where preventable disease is still the leading cause of death. Josh's work and research will focus on strengthening fragile healthcare infrastructures where maternal mortality, malnutrition, and infectious disease remain widespread, not due to a lack of clinical knowledge, but because of broken supply chains, corruption, and misaligned financial incentives. Many of these failures flow directly downstream from the fall. However, many of the issues simply come from the nature of the dominion mandate—prefall and once untainted by sin—they are multifaceted logistical problems with many moving parts contained within complex systems. The sort of problems that God designed humans to solve. The sort of glories He hid in His creation for kings to uncover. It is toward this end that the Salmon family is moving to Israel this fall. Josh will be studying epidemiology and public health in an academic partnership between the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Hadassah Medical Center. Caroline will be caring for their newborn daughter.
